We pride ourselves on crafting homes that align with our clients’ lifestyles and aspirations. This recently completed apartment at Tanglin View epitomizes how bold design decisions and thoughtful planning can redefine living spaces. Here, we share insights into how we reimagined this 1152-square-foot residence for a family that prioritizes entertaining and practical elegance.
A Dining-Focused Floor Plan
Originally, the apartment featured a small dining area and a larger living room. Understanding our client’s passion for hosting, we swapped these zones, dedicating more space to dining. Central to this reconfiguration is a curved wall that spans an entire elevation of the unit. While challenging to execute, including curved doors, this architectural feature softened the otherwise rigid space. Curves, while known to reduce usable space, enhanced this home’s character and functionality.
A custom curved banquette serves as the focal point of the dining area, seamlessly blending form and function. Anchoring the space is a generous 1800mm diameter dining table, perfect for lively gatherings and family meals.

A Bold and Open Kitchen
To create a kitchen befitting the family’s culinary pursuits, we expanded its footprint by incorporating the former storage room. The enlarged kitchen is a vibrant showcase of bold design, featuring green cabinetry paired with terrazzo-look tiles in a playful checkerboard pattern. This lively palette is a testament to the client’s openness to color.
The kitchen seamlessly connects to the yard, where we introduced a deep burgundy hue, adding warmth and continuity. Custom carpentry not only conceals the unsightly refuse chute but also provides practical storage for cleaning supplies. The powder room adjacent to the yard mirrors this boldness, with large-format terrazzo tiles complemented by deep red 10mm x 10mm mosaics.

A Luxurious Master Suite
By merging the master bedroom with an adjacent room, we transformed this three-bedroom apartment into a spacious two-bedroom home. This reimagined master suite now includes a walk-in wardrobe with abundant storage, a vanity table, and a custom-designed bedhead. The ensuite bathroom was completely redesigned, adding a touch of luxury to the retreat.

A Multifunctional Second Bedroom
The second bedroom now serves as a moody, multifunctional study with an ensuite. Large corten steel tiles line one wall, creating a striking visual effect. Additional storage includes a wardrobe and a pull-out Murphy bed, ensuring flexibility for overnight guests. The ensuite bathroom features a fixed datum line design, cleverly creating the illusion of a larger space. The upper walls are finished with FENIX compact laminate, while large-format tiles cover the lower sections, blending texture and elegance.

This Tanglin View apartment demonstrates how tailored design solutions can maximize both aesthetics and functionality. By prioritizing the client’s love for entertaining, embracing bold colors, and optimizing spatial flow, we crafted a home that truly reflects their personality and lifestyle.
From the dynamic dining area to the moodier study, every element speaks to a harmonious blend of creativity and practicality. We’re thrilled with how this transformation turned out and look forward to bringing more unique visions to life.
