In the world of interior design, few experiences are as rewarding as working closely with a visionary client who embodies entrepreneurship and passion. Jasmine Chong, the co-founder of Lab Studios, is one such client who has allowed us to bring our unique touch to both her workspace and her home.
At Cream Pie Studio, we’ve had the pleasure of collaborating with Jasmine on transforming her studio spaces and her personal sanctuary. This article takes you on a delightful journey through five questions with Jasmine Chong, delving into her approach to interior design for both work and home.
1) Hi Jasmine! Could you share a brief bio detailing your background and work experience?
I escaped the finance industry sometime in 2013 and dived into teaching yoga full time! I did that for 2 years before starting my own yoga brand in 2016. We are now 3 brands and 7 studios strong!
2) Let’s start with budgets. This is always the determining factor of every project. How do you plan budgets for your studio ID vs. home ID?
We manage our costs for the studios based on financial forecasts. Depending on the space and the type of workout we want in that space, it usually ranges between 30-80k per studio for a 1500sqft studio. We didn’t really have a budget for home renovation and wanted a space we both liked and will last the different seasons of life we will go through.”
Jasmine’s pragmatic yet flexible approach to budgets is a testament to her ability to balance financial constraints with creative vision. Her studios are designed to optimize functionality, while her home’s design focuses on longevity and personal comfort.

3) You own businesses and your own apartment. Are there any brands of homeware that pique your interest for either home or studio ?
“We love Taobao for the studio because the designs are current and the price is great. The only downside is the quality and sometimes delivery time. Studios are high traffic, so we know we have to replace items quite regularly anyway. Taobao fits the bill perfectly. As for the home, … Steph (founder of CP Studio), you know which brands better. Hahaha, if not I’ll ask Kenny (my husband).”
Jasmine’s candid response reflects her hands-on involvement in every detail of her spaces. From the practical considerations for her studio to the discerning choices for her home, she appreciates the balance between affordability and quality.
4) When it comes to your studio, how do you select furnishings? Is it based on longevity or aesthetic?
Aesthetic 🙂
5) What is your favorite part of your home and one favorite area of your studio, and why?
“I love our dining table at home. It is where we host friends and family, where conversations and communion happen. We wanted the dining table to be the main part of the living room, and it is where we spend most of our time together. I love the Duxton studio space. The light always hits right, and we love how spacious and current it feels, even though the studio is already 7 years old.”

In the realm of interior design, collaborating with Jasmine Chong on both her studio and home projects has been an enriching experience. Her journey from finance to wellness entrepreneurship shines through in every decision she makes about her spaces. By blending aesthetics, functionality, and a keen sense of personal connection, Jasmine continues to redefine interior design norms, inspiring us all to create spaces that reflect our true selves.
